Find Fat Quarters: A Patchwork of Stories for Quilters at local bookstores or online. It’s my flash collection of quilt-themed stories. It launched in May, I did an out-of-state reading in June, followed by a July book signing in Sisters, Oregon. I wrapped up my summer promotional efforts in August in Bend at a local author Saturday event.
Herringbone
Herringbone Books in Redmond, Oregon carries Fat Quarters: A Patchwork of Stories for Quilters. Look for it in the local author section just to the right as you enter the store. Owner Brandon Weimer supports local authors by stocking their books and hosting author events and book signings. In addition to local authors, he stocks books in just about every genre from art and architecture to Young Adult as well as everything in between. If he doesn’t have what you’re looking for, he’ll order it and get it to you in a matter of days.
Paulina Springs
Every year Sisters, Oregon hosts an outdoor quilt show. People come from all over the USA and even other countries! When I inquired at Paulina Springs Books if I could set up a table on quilt show day to sell Fat Quarters: A Patchwork of Stories for Quilters, they agreed. Temperatures were in the 98 to 103-degree range. Some people wandered in out of the heat to cool off, but I sold a few books—one to a Canadian—and Paulina Springs kept a few on consignment.
Roundabout
Bend, Oregon has a dozen or so bookstores. My book can be found at Roundabout Books in Bend’s Northwest Crossing neighborhood. They recently hosted a local author Saturday where I joined three other authors (two fiction, two nonfiction) to display our books and engage with potential readers. I signed a few books and left several copies with them on consignment. Roundabout has an active events calendar including author events, book clubs, story times, and more.
Choices
Readers and authors love independent bookstores for their cozy atmosphere, eclectic collections, and personal service. But sometimes online shopping fits the bill. If you’re shopping for a friend that lives on the other side of the country, save yourself a trip to the post office. Or if you live in a remote location, online booksellers might be your best option. In either case, there are multiple online booksellers to choose from. You can find Fat Quarters at Amazon.
So, if you’re shopping locally in Central Oregon, check out Redmond’s Herringbone Books, Paulina Springs Books in Sisters, and Roundabout Books in Bend’s Northwest Crossing. They all carry a wonderful selection of books, including mine.
